Established in 1900, Hamilton is the oldest original charter in the First District, currently representing over eleven hundred members in the construction sector. Over the past fifteen years, I have served as Recording Secretary, Executive Board member, VicePresident, President, and now Business Manager of Local Union 105.
In all my years as an elected officer, I have never seen an IVP with a stronger commitment to organizing the unorganized. I began my electrical career as an unrepresented worker and joined the IBEW believing, as I still do, that all workers deserve representation. To have an IVP who shares this belief and has backed it with real results — growing our Districts membership at an unprecedented rate over the past four years — is exceptional. More than 8,000 new members have been given the same opportunity I once was: to belong to an organization that fights for all workers.
I could not have been elected Business Manager at a better time. IVP Shewchuk’s passion and dedication to organizing align closely with what I plan to achieve at my local. I look forward to working alongside Russ in the years ahead to ensure more electrical workers have the representation, opportunities, and benefits that come from belonging to our union.
It is with full confidence that I endorse the re-election of Russ Shewchuk as IVP for the First District.
Fraternally,
Stuart McLellan
