I hope you were able to celebrate Canada Day with your loved ones last week.
This is the third communication in my campaign to earn your support to be re-elected as your International Vice President for District 1 – Canada.
Back in 2022, during my campaign leading into the 40th International Convention in Chicago, I ran on a platform that we are ‘Stronger Together’. I still believe the strength of the IBEW begins with our Local Unions and that building a bigger and stronger IBEW, benefits the entire labour movement and all working people.
Over the past four years, I have lobbied hard to convince International President Kenneth Cooper to provide additional resources necessary to expand the First District staff. This has resulted in seven (7) net new positions within the First District staff to ensure we are able to provide the level of support needed for all of our Local Unions across this vast country.
With the added resources we were able to hire a dedicated International Representative to assist the Railroad branch. It allowed us to add another full time Education Specialist to significantly increase the amount of training being provided to Local Unions, and on a much faster timeline than prior administrations. We also created a new position dedicated to marketing and media communications. Finally, we were also able to add an additional four (4) staff dedicated to expanding our capacity in both Government Relations and Organizing, Membership and Business Development. All of these individuals have brought value to our District and have made positive contributions to our Local Unions and the lives of our current and future members.
My goal has always been simple: Provide the Local Union leaders in Canada with the tools and resources they need.
Real leadership means addressing challenges directly, supporting Local Unions when they need help, and ensuring that no one faces difficult situations alone. I am proud of the work we have accomplished together as a District and I invite you to explore this site to learn more.
